Route Formentera one day - West
Lighthouse - Sa Torreta - S'Espalmador and Es Pas - Ses Illetes - Cala Negra EXTRA Cala Saona
The favorite route for anyone who wants to rent a boat in Ibiza. Going to Formentera from Ibiza, Santa Eulalia, by boat will take us only 40 minutes.
You can also eat at some of the best restaurants in Formentera, marked on the map, depending on the weather conditions of the day.
Formentera Lighthouse
The first stop on the boat route around Formentera is the lighthouse located on the Island of Pigs (s’Illa des Porcs), in front of the island of s’Espalmador. A little frequented site due to the shallow depth. Its waters are crystal clear and we have a large sandy bottom in the whole area, perfect to drop anchor and take our first swim in Formentera. We will also have areas to snorkel and see the Posidonia with its great variety of fish.
S'Espalmador - Sa Torreta
Second stop, we recommend a visit to Sa Torreta, in s’Espalmador. It is an almost unique opportunity to access a virgin island in Formentera, a paradisiacal and unique place in the world, only accessible by the shallowest boats and the most experienced skippers. To anchor in Sa Torreta, we will have to respect the area delimited with buoys, we will be in the Natural Reserve of Ses Salines and it is an important bird breeding area.
S'Espalmador and Es Pas
Second stop, one of the best places in Formentera to swim in the most famous crystal clear aquamarine waters of the Balearic Islands. A mandatory stop, without hesitation. We will only have to be especially careful with the Baix de Gorrinets dry dock located in the bay of s’Espalmador. Once at anchor, we can swim to Es Pas, a sandy causeway that connects s’Espalmador with Formentera; crossing it is a unique experience in Formentera. The water will reach our waist and we will be able to walk to Ses Illetes.
Ses Illetes
The fourth stop on the map, one of the best places in Formentera, calm and crystalline turquoise blue waters and area of the best known restaurants. Declared on multiple occasions as the best beach in the world. We will be able to anchor to see all the mega-yachts, sailboats, catamarans and enjoy its waters, as well as to eat in any of its restaurants. These establishments have their own inflatable boats to take you to the restaurant and bring you back to the finish. Very busy area in summer as it is a unique place, remember to make your reservation well in advance! Always anchor outside the bathing area and never inside or above the Posidonia.
Cala Saona and Cala Negra
Fifth stop, Cala Saona. It is known for its turquoise waters, large sandy bottom and for being the only sandy beach between the cliffs of the entire southwest of Formentera. It also has two restaurants serving the ship. In this environment we can enjoy the Seabob and paddle surfing, but it is also highly recommended to snorkel and enjoy its uniqueness. At sunset, we will see one of the most spectacular sunsets there is. Waters with an incredible color to take your best pictures in Cala Saona.
All in all, we will head for port, a journey of less than an hour. If we hire the “sunset” extra, we will sail while the sun disappears over the horizon; an unforgettable memory.
